Meditation, simply, is the formal practice of mindfulness or devoted attention for the purpose of cultivating calm or clarity, among other states of being (i.e. concentration, patience etc). Definitions aside, meditation is about coming home to yourself. It’s actually the art of doing nothing at all (pausing and pondering) - which is what makes it the perfect antidote to our fast paced way of life. Research has shown that meditation can;
Induce a deep state of relaxation
Provide clarity in stressful situations
Relax and harmonise the nervous system, with flow on effects that manage stress-related conditions
Help cultivate greater acceptance of life’s ebbs and flows
Increase productivity by improving concentration and memory
Settle the body and mind, thus improving sleep quality
