Jo is a compassionate psychologist who brings a client-centred, Rogerian approach to her practice….creating space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and validated. With a foundation built on unconditional positive regard, she believes that each person is the expert of their own experience and possesses the internal resources needed to become their best self.
Jo’s journey began at Monash IVF, where she worked with individuals navigating fertility challenges. This led to a meaningful role at the Postnatal and Antenatal Depression Association (PANDA), supporting men and women experiencing perinatal mental health challenges. Drawn to working with young people and families, Jo then spent many years in the education system, advocating for children and adolescents across both primary and secondary school settings.
With years of experience and research in the field of neurodivergence, Jo now specialises in supporting autistic and ADHD individuals and their families. She is particularly passionate about working with parents who feel overwhelmed, judged, or unsupported, offering validation and practical guidance as they navigate educational systems and access formal and informal supports.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, Jo integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), AutPlay (Play Therapy), Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her practice is enriched by the theoretical frameworks of Dr. Ross Greene, Mona Delahooke, and Dr. Stephen Porges. She is also qualified in specialised interventions including the Safe and Sound Protocol and EMDR therapy.
Known for her joyful personality and ability to build quick rapport, Jo creates a gentle and calm therapeutic environment where relational safety is paramount. She approaches her work with endless curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning, emphasising choice, control, and equity in the therapeutic relationship. Her collaborative style, combined with deep empathy and appreciation for individual
differences, enables clients to explore their challenges and growth in a supportive, accepting space.
